Dating back to the middle ages, historical records reveal instances where soldiers were often unaware of the identities of their fellow comrades. The Changing of Command was an opportunity for the unit to come together and witness the continuity of leadership, which can strengthen and boost morale. However, today the main purpose of the Changing of Command is to allow us to witness the official transfer of responsibility, authority, and accountability from one individual to the next.
The Passing of a unit's colors is one of the oldest military ceremonies, it symbolizes the passing of authority. As of 04-24-2024 Cadet LTC Jaqueline Lopez received command of the Pirate Battalion from Cadet LTC Britany Navarette. Witnessed by everyone in attendance at the ceremony. They also had the Posting of Colors, National Anthem, the Army Song and a Reception at the end.
Regardless of what type of ceremony, these events hold a special place in history. During these events, our students' diligence and commitment to the organization are prominently displayed, reflecting their unwavering dedication and hard work.
